Well - I could/should go back to review the monthly adventures of 2011.... but I think I am just going to hit some highlights and move on.
Early in the year I had a blast running and racing - I ran three races in 2011 and got three trophies. Pretty cool stuff. Also had fun running with a good friend during the week - it provided such fun times just figuring out how to set our schedules to manage the kids etc. etc.
In the spring we found out that I was pregnant. This slowed down my running for a few months, but unfortunately in June, we realized that we were having another miscarriage. June has been a tough month for my pregnancies for sure!
In July we had a blast celebrating baby J's first bday party. He had a party in Alabama and also in Virginia - with good friends and family around us. He learned to walk just a few days later and is now learning to communicate with his word count being around 40 active understandable words! and a lot of sentences that we don't understand AT ALL! but he is just so cute when he starts jabbering. He walks and talks from the minute he wakes up to the minute he goes to bed right now.
In August, we got yet another positive pregnancy test.... and I will talk more about that shortly. All seems to be going well still with the little princess.
In November, R took a job in Alabama.... soo, the week before Christmas we loaded up the truck (thanks to good friends in VA) and moved our stuff down south. We unloaded into a storage building and are temporarily living with my family.
So.... those are the highlights.
Now, for what we believe is coming in the next few months!
We are looking at houses. We have already gone looking with the realtor in the last week and met with the lender as well. We are trying hard to buy our first house!! WOW.... growing up is kinda crazy. We have a few options and hope to be making offers soon... overwhelmed doesn't being to describe it.
We also are trying to prepare for the arrival of the little princess. At this point with J's pregnancy I was already moving towards being prepared.... furniture, registering, etc. etc. This time I haven't even started!!! If it weren't for a good friend in VA giving me a box of girl clothes back in July, I don't know if I would even have clothes for her yet....
A stranger asked me fore the first time the other night when I was due (I was checking out with two maternity shirts and a baby sleeper.... guess she felt safe asking the question)... then she asked if I already knew if it was a boy or girl... and then asked if I had my nursery ready.. Umm no. I don't even have a house in which I can put a nursery yet!! :)
R starts his new job next week. I am so excited for him to get to live his dream. I can see the excitement building in him daily. The only other times I have seen him have this kinda of anticipation was in the weeks leading to our wedding.... and in the days prior to J's birth. It is so reassuring to see him so excited about this endeavor.
So - 2011 was a roller coaster - the good was great.... the bad was really tough - I have expectation that 2012 will probably be a roller coaster as well - just in different areas. Here we go.

Welcome to 2009
2009 has arrived.
Surprisingly, it arrived without too much fanfare in my life. I don't mean that bad, I mean, we were at a party, with friends and family, eating Krispy Kreme donuts and drinking carbonated grape juice - but still, not much fanfare today. It doesn't feel that different.
I do not usually do very well on resolutions. I have read some ideas today on not doing resolutions for a year, but short term goals. 7 per week - 4 per month - and 1 for the year.... I am afraid I would fail in january and not even try the rest of them (my perfectionism weighs in... if I can't do it 100%, I tend to not do it at all.)
So, here is my decision. I am going to try two things. They will each last all year. And I believe, that if I am successful, these two things will help me to be able to accomplish all other things much better.
1. Memorizing Scripture. I have signed up for the accountability on the LPM blog. I plan to memorize two per month. Ending with 24 in a year. No, this is not a major feat, many people much better than I am have done more amazing things many times over. However, I must admit that 24 in 2009 will be 24 more than I memorized in 2008. So, here we go with that one.
Other benefits: Discipline over weeks at a time. I cannot wait until the 14th of every month to start memorizing. I will have to do it as I go.
- I will have to be reading the Word often in order to know what Scripture will be impacting me.
- If I am meditating for two weeks at a time on a Scripture, it will be harder for my mind to get back into the pity parties that I tend to have.
I am starting with Isaiah 33:6.
2. Being healthy in body. This will encompass several things for me. I need to eat better. I was doing so well this time last year. I had completely cut out all carbonation, I was cooking healthy foods, we were not eating very much bad food... and for a while, I did really well at cooking for lunches, and having sandwiches or lighter food for dinner. I plan to get back into this. Also, I need to run. I love to run, I love to bike. I need to do the things I love to do.
Other Benefits: I will feel better.
- I will still be working on my discipline.
- I will be doing things I love to do, but so often laziness takes over my desires.
- I will have less time for the pity parties.
- I will waste less time staring at the internet!
So - there you go. 24 Bible verses...
I am not setting a weight goal. Its more about my health than about a particular number this time around. Also, last time I set a number goal, I got so frustrated. I felt better, I looked better, but I didn't lose any numbers - which got frustrating, so I quit (again, the perfectionism). So, this time there is not a number game to be played... I am going to do it for my health.
Anyone else out there setting goals??
Someone who aims at nothing is sure to hit it.

New day
Well - I am successfully failing at all of my resolutions this year so far. However, it is now a new month. I was watching Martha Stewart last week (yeah - I should have really been working on my resolutions instead of wasting my time... I know, I know.) and she had someone on the show that was talking about resolutions and how everyone is pretty much giving up on their "new year's goals" by the end of January - - and well - - I am.
But, the point was that we can change the way we look at it and we can get a enw start without waiting till 2009. We all like new beginnings. A new chance to look at life again. A day to start without the mistakes from yesterday, and a blank screen to start writing on again. Being a musician, I like my blank screens to start a little later than you early birds... but I love a blank screen that starts around 10:00 and I can write on it late into the night. Anyway, that is beside the point. (I don't GET that late start usually.. I am just saying that is the way I prefer it!)
Today - its the 4th of February, 2008 - I get to start over again today! So far, I have successfully done a few things this morning, and I have a list a mile long today however... what a wonderful opportunity to start again.
yesterday - we sang a "good hymn of the faith" as many like to call them at church. The lyrics are like this,
Great is thy faithfulness, Oh God my Father
there is no shadow, of turning with thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness - Lord unto me.
Now, in my own words - without the "Thee's and Thou's" since I dont talk like that usually.
Oh my Father, Your faithfulness is so great!
You never turn - not even a shadow's worth!
You do not change, your compassion never fails
As you have been... That is forever how You will be (for a girl... this is the ultimate security statement)
Great is Your faithfulness
Great is Your faithfulness
EVERY MORNING YOUR MERCIES ARE NEW IN MY LIFE!
Everything I need (not want) You have provided through your generous hand
Your faithfulness is so great to me Lord.
Those words had me near tears as I played the bass during the morning service. I wanted to fall to my knees and bow to the realness of the faithfulness of my Father. He is faithful to me - to us. Even when we don't see it. Even when we feel lonely. Even when we are ungrateful. His faithfulness (thank goodness) is not one of those "dependent on our actions" type of things. It is not a conditional promise. He is faithful through our unfaithfulness! (not sure if that is a word).
Every morning he gives me new mercies, as our worship pastor said yesterday - this is a good thing... because He knows I certainly used up all my mercies for yesterday, I need new ones today!
So, today - the first Monday in February. I am going to work on the resolutions again. New today.

Here they are
I waited a day to post them, because I needed to think through my resolutions.... or whatever...
But since I know you were all waiting to see what I might be hoping to do this year... here it is.
1. I need to ramp up my prayer life. This seems simple. And since being married, I have taken STRIDES in my talking with God. At least it is done daily now. However, I feel that I could be so much deeper in what I share with God. PLUS, in all relationships I am usually a good listener. People talk to me... However, when talking with God - (the ONE person I should LISTEN more to) I tend to do all the talking.... and then close the conversation with a nice "in Jesus' name... amen" and I can picture God taking a breath ready to respond to my requests and questions... and I go on my merry way - leaving Him interrupted.
2. I will spend LESS time in front of the TV. This will be helped when we get out of our direct TV contract in February. I don't learn anything from it - it doesn't help me in my productivity, or in my piano practice, in my walk with my Savior, or in my mental ability.... but yet - it takes SO much time! SO, I will watch as MUCH TV as possible until Feb.. then I will work on my resolution right??
3. I want to complete the 3 books I have started. In 2005 I started reading "The cost of discipleship" by Dietrich Bonhoeffer... I am still reading it... Ronnie and I started reading "Now you're speaking my language" and "the 5 love languages" by Gary Chapman last year... we are still reading them both.
4. I want to learn to successfully "coupon." I am going to be a coupon mom!!! (Don't read too much on that mom thing... I am NOT pregnant or anything... I am using that as a relatve term). In this couponing... I want to be eating more healthy - and feeding my husband more healthy too. We are both trying to treat our bodies more like the temples God created them to be... its slow going so far - because of the budget... you understand - cheaper food just isn't as good for you! It costs money to be healthy!!!!! Hence the coupons!
Well.... 4 things... thats enough for me.. if I complete them, I will let ya know, and maybe make more resolutions... however, last year I had 3 of them, and only accomplished 2... so if I get 3 out of 4 this year I will be successful too...
- PS. Jon - I did 2 in one day.... :) are you proud of me??

Everyone else is doing it
So, here it is - the New Year's post.
I would love to spend some time re-counting the amazing year of 2007. Without details, it was the most amazing year of my life... It was also one of the most emotional years of my life. The highs were REALLY high! Meeting the love of my life, dating, being engaged to, and marrying him! Being a part of a ministry team that traveled and led people to a saving knowledge of Christ. Etc. etc.... The lows were low... Saying goodbye to my brother as he left to fight in Iraq - Watching him hug each family member with tears running down our faces not knowing when we would see each other face to face again. Praying for my dad as he flew to Texas with my grandparents when my aunt had a heart attack and we weren't sure how that was going to turn out. Praying for a friend in Alabama that was going through a tough time and not making the decisions that she needed to make. Being with Ronnie as his great-grandmother passed away and all that is involved with that.
Having said that, the tears have been plentiful - the joys have filled my heart - the bottom line is, that now, having taken the glance back , we must look at 2008. I read last night, a journal entry that I wrote on new year's eve 2006. I was down... depressed even...it was tough. If someone had told me what joys I would fill in 2007 I would not have believed them. If they had shared the heart aches I could not have imagined it - it all had to come in time. Who knows what 2008 will bring? I am sure, as with all of life - the joys will be plenty - the pain will be severe - That is the way we live right? The important thing is to remember to thank God for all of it. The joy, the pain, the love, the sadness, the uncertainty... The Bible says to thank Him in all things. Not to be anxious for anything, but in everything to give thanks! We are to look at the joys and celebrate. And to trust God through the tough times so that His Joy can shine through in the morning.
Well, here we go - into another great year of our Lord... 2008. Do I have resolutions? I am working on that... I was about 66% on last year's resolutions. I had 3... I believe I did 2 of them successfully. I should look at that as a positive year, had I not had them, I might have done the same thing, but I might not have recognized it! So, I am going to have some resolutions... benchmarks I guess... I just don't quite have them nailed down yet...
On a side note.... for the first time in my life - I had a date on New Years! We went out to eat, watched a movie, and had a kiss at the countdown! It was just as cool as I always thought it would be:)
